Edward Michel Khayat

A three-sport Tiger letterman, Eddie Khayat went on to be a multi-sport standout at Millsaps College, Perkinston Junior College (now Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College) and Tulane University. He was the Mississippi Golden Gloves Heavyweight Champion (novice class) in boxing in 1953-54. Khayat then excelled in a 10-year NFL career with Washington, Philadelphia and Boston. He

James Edward (Jimmy) Joseph Jr.

Joseph excelled at football, basketball and baseball for the Monarchs and then received a scholarship to play baseball for Grambling State University.

Bruce James

James was an 1965 and 1966 All-State fullback and linebacker and led the 1966 Tiger football team that won eight games in an era when most high school football schedules only included 10 games per year. Donald Peter (Duck) Hyde

Hyde excelled in football and basketball for the Monarchs and then attended Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on an athletic scholarship to play basketball and baseball. He played both sports all four years of college, and pitched a no-hitter his junior year at Stillman, and received an invitation to pro camp the summer of 1959.

Vornita Kay Harris

Harris was a track and field star for the Tigers excelling in track and cross-country. Running was her passion, sometimes in the mornings before school, then again during track practice and again after school. She often trained against boys seeking to better her performance. Gilliam was a star athlete for the Monarchs and then was an All-Conference quarterback for Alcorn A&M College (now Alcorn State University), where he also played baseball. Sarah Green Faulks

Faulks led the Monarchs basketball team to the 1952 Gulf Coast Conference championship. She then played on the Alcorn A&M College (now Alcorn State University) team that won the 1953 South Central Athletic Conference championship in women’s basketball.

An All-State football center, Farragut led the 1945 Tigers as team captain to an undefeated season and was selected team captain by his teammates again the following season.
