Biggs was a star football player for the Monarchs and for Jackson State College (now Jackson State University), where he was a two-time All American. He was drafted into the American Football League (now American Football Conference) by the New York Jets and played defensive end for the Jets’ Super Bowl III championship team that held Johnny Unitas’ famed Baltimore Colts team to 7 points. Biggs was also named All-AFL multiple times, and AFL sacks leader in 1966. He later signed with the Washington Redskins (now Washington Commanders), earned All-NFL honors, and played in Super Bowl VII as a key part of head coach George Allen’s “Over the Hill Gang.” He is honored as a member of the Jackson State Athletic Hall of Fame and the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
